MEET MARK

A Dependable Community Servant

Mark Clouser is a lifelong member of the Huntsville community, a retired District Fire Chief, successful small business owner, community volunteer, husband, father, and grandpa. Mark has the life experience and expertise needed to serve the people of Huntsville.

As a child, Mark learned the importance of putting others before himself, and he has spent his life looking for ways to support others. Mark spent the first year 8 years of his life living in the back of a mom and pop store learning the value of hard work. By the time he was 7, he was stocking shelves, pumping gas, and bagging groceries. Later in life, Mark's father successfully established Dixieland Sales where Mark spent his elementary and high school years loading trucks, sweeping floors, and generating sales. Because of his hard work, Mark was elevated to a role in which he managed both retail and small wholesale while overseeing bookkeeping responsibilities for the business. However, at 24, Mark decided it was time to transition to a career that was about servings others.

In 1989, Mark began his career with Huntsville Fire & Rescue. As a firefighter, he helped our friends and neighbors during some of the most challenging days of their lives. Mark excelled in leadership and service at Huntsville Fire & Rescue and retired in January 2022 as a District Fire Chief. Huntsville's public safety community highly respects Mark for his strong leadership and selfless service.

Mark attended Madison Academy and Lee High School. He continued his education at Calhoun Community College, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and Alabama Fire College.

Mark has served our community in many other ways, including:

  • Member of the Board of Directors, Madison Academy

  • Member of the Board of Directors, North Alabama Pop Warner League

  • Youth Deacon, Monrovia Church of Christ

  • Wrestling and football Coach, Madison Academy

  • Co-Founder, Mustang Athletic Association

  • Member of the Board of Directors, Southern Youth Wrestling Organization

Mark has also volunteered for several organizations and events, including:

  • Camp Ney-A-Ti

  • Special Olympics of Madison County

  • IAFF Special Needs Christmas Dance

  • Special Needs Fishing Rodeo

  • "Closet Ministry at the Church" free clothing days

  • Teaching fire safety at local elementary schools

  • CPR Instructor for Huntsvilles High School students

Mark is a successful small business owner, and he understands the value of hard work and giving back to the community that supports you. Mark recently sold Alan Blind Company after 26 years to focus on the next chapter.

Mark married his high-school sweetheart Margaret in 1982, and they are still in love 40 years later. They are members at Mayfair Church of Christ and love to enjoy the natural beauty of North Alabama.

Together they raised two children who share their passion for serving others. Their daughter Christine teaches science and biology at Madison Academy, and their son Christopher is a U.S. Navy SEAL.

Mark and Margaret enjoy working in their garden and spending time with their two grandchildren. They volunteer at the children's school, attend their community sports games, and share their love of supporting local businesses and serving others.
